What a hands on experience , meet and interact with local Israeli artists, work with them to create an artistic project centered around a theme of your choice that will be a memento to take home and remember
This is an actual workshop, the group starts with our weaving experience, at the end of which each member will sit behind the loom and weave a preplanned design with the help and instruction of a professional weaver. After the group has left we will finish the tapestry that the group worked on and send it to them if it’s a Bar/Bat Mitsva group the guest of honor will receive a hallah cover or wall hanging made by their loved ones with personalized embroidery. All other congregations will receive a wall hanging with personalized embroidery that they can display

A moving family experience and a keepsake that will stay with the Bar/Bat Mitsva child for all their life. The family will choose a talit from our web site prior to their arrival - they can choose anything from a standard factory made talit (average price $150) to our hand woven talit (average price $650). When they arrive at our studio they will see how we weave a talit and receive a short and interesting explanation. The family will be taken to our veranda that commands breathtaking views of the Galilee where the talit that they chose will be ready to tie the tsitsit (tassels) . We will explain the spiritual importance of the tsitsit and each family member will be asked to tie a knot or more into the bar/bat Mitsva childs talit – and along with the knot tie a blessing or memory for the child. At the end of the ceremony the talit will be presented to the guest of honor

The group will tour our weaving studio they will receive an interesting explanation on ancient weaving techniques as they see them being applied in our work; we will give a brief history of Tsfat and its connection to weaving. Each member of the group will be given the opportunity to sit behind a loom and with the help of our staff weave a few lines for a real experience

After a short explanation each participant will receive an apron sit behind a potter’s wheel and with the help of a professional potter create one of a few options: 1) A Kiddush cup (on the bottom of the cup they will etch their name , later we fire it in a kiln and send all cups to ONE address 2) One large plate is thrown on the wheel by the potter and each participant either etches or draws on the plate we will fire the plate in a kiln and send the plate to the family. 3) On the wheel each person will make a small bell shape the bells will be etched with the name of its maker the bells will be put together to create a wind chime that will be sent to the family.

The group will receive a short explanation about how and why recycling is so important then they will create a colorful paper embedded with dry flowers and stems from the area . We prepare in advance more paper (because the paper that the participants make needs to be dried before use) With the help of a professional caligrapher each person sits down and creates a greeting card for the bar/bat mitsva child we take all the blessings and fit them into a wooden chest and send to the family as a keepsake. For a group that is not doing a bar mitsva (shul or Jcc) the group can choose a saying or part of scripture each person will write a word or letter we take all the papers and turn them into a colorful collage that can be framed and hung. Individuals will make paper and turn it into a holiday card

The soap is made of natural and safe ingredients the group will receive a short explanation and then each participant will choose a color, shape and smell of soap that they would like to make. After they finish making the soap they will take it with them.
Each participant with the help of a professional jeweler creates a piece of jewelry (necklace, bracelet or earrings) with semiprecious stones at the end of the workshop he/she keeps the piece that they made.
Where Canaan Gallery is located in the center of the old city of Tsfat in a 270 year old traditional Tsfati home that we have restored. The central courtyard shaded by an 80 year old vine is the setting for the different workshops and experiences that we offer (In cases of bad weather we have a 1200sqf room as well)
